One of the marquee volleyball rivalries in the Little Hawkeye Conference will unfold on the court for the first time this season tonight, as Pella Christian makes the quick trip down Highway 163 to face Oskaloosa.

“They lost a few players [from last year’s co-conference championship team] but they’ve still got some strength; and they love to play Pella Christian in their gym – so they’ll be ready for us,” said Lady Eagles’ head coach Cindy Nikkel. “They battle back-and-forth pretty hard. They’re definitely beatable, though, so if we come to play with confidence – we can take it to them.”

The Lady Eagles are 7-9 overall, following a strong 3-1 showing at this past weekend’s North Mahaska Invite. In fact, Pella Christian has won six of their last seven matches – including their league debut last week against Newton – and are taking on an Indians squad that is 9-7 overall and 2-0 in the conference after wins over Marion County’s other two LHC programs – Pella High and Knoxville.

Varsity action from Oskaloosa High School between the Pella Christian volleyball team and the host Indians is slated for approximately 7:15 p.m. tonight.
