A hot start by the Pella High volleyball team was extinguished by Grinnell Tuesday night, as the Tigers held off the Lady Dutch 3-1 in Grinnell.  

Pella came out on fire, winning the opening game 25-17, but Grinnell responded with a 25-22 win in game two; then gained the momentum with a 25-19 win in the third game.  The decisive fourth game was close the whole way, but the Lady Dutch could not overtake the Tigers in a 28-26 loss.  

Shannon Ewing had a team-best 8 kills, annd Regan Nelson spread around 25 assists.  Defensively, Carrie Vande Haar had six blocks and Taelor Rempe led Pella with 31 digs.  

The Pella High volleyball team is now 7-12 overall and 0-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.  They’re off for an entire week now before hosting cross-town rival Pella Christian next Tuesday.
