After a pair of tough non-district losses, the Pleasantville football team is ready to embark on the Class A District 6 schedule Friday night – and are looking to build some consistency in their personnel on the field. With some players who were unavailable for last week’s game returning to the lineup, Trojans’ head football coach Gabe Bakker is hopeful the development of familiar player groupings will create greater continuity on offense and defense.

“There’s no substitute for working with the same guy right next to you – especially up on the line,” said Bakker. “When you’re more comfortable with the guys around you, the calls and the signals get a little bit easier, because you know what the other guys are going to do. The more that we can have familiar bodies out there, the better it’s going to be.”

Pleasantville travels to Montezuma for their district debut to face a Braves team that is 1-1 following this past week’s loss at BCLUW. The game will be streamed live at kniakrls.com
