Following their first win of the season this past week, the Twin Cedars football team is trying to keep their progress moving forward this week in practice, as the Sabers prepare for Friday’s game against Meskwaki Settlement. In an interview featured in Wednesday night’s Marion County PM Sports Page program, junior quarterback Brent Parker – one of the captains for Twin Cedars – said the team is still trying to improve on conditioning and finding a smooth rhythm on offense.

“We need to make sure we stay in shape – make sure we can last the whole game. That’s a big thing, since we don’t have very many players out,” said Parker. “We’re good on the line – our [offensive] line is playing great football right now. What we really need to work on is to make sure we have our plays down, and we don’t hurry ourselves. We need to go at a slow pace, but yet a quick enough pace to make sure we can get the ball down the field and score.”

The Sabers rolled up 358 yards of offense in their 50-20 Homecoming victory over East Union. The Warriors, meanwhile, are 0-3 and are coming off of a 70-12 loss last week against HLV. Last season the Twin Cedars football team defeated Meskwaki Settlement 72-36.
