Twin Cedars saw their season come to an end in the opening round of the Eight-Man playoffs Wednesday night as the Sabers fell to the Number one ranked Murray Mustangs, 62-19. The Sabers were shutout in the first half but were able to put up 19 points in the second with the help of great defensive plays including a 35-yard strip and score from Junior Drew Carlson. Afterwards, Twin Cedars Head Coach, Aaron Allspach, discussed why his team had so many struggles throughout the night. “We met our match tonight,” Allspach said. “They were the best team we played all year. Just really physical and we were expecting that coming in being the defending state runner-up and the best team in the state. Our kids didn’t quit, and they kept playing, and that’s what I told them; don’t lay down. We were down in the second half, and it’s easy to fold when things aren’t going your way, but we came out second half and just kept playing, and that’s what I’m proud of.” Twin Cedars finishes the 2012 season with a 5 and 5 record, while Murray advances to the second round to take on Colo-Nesco this Monday.
