Nicknames are a common place in sports at any level, and PCM Mustangs head football coach, Greg Bonnett, has a special one for his freshman quarterback, Logan Gillman. “We call Logan ‘The Franchise’ around here,” Bonnett said. “That’s what we call him, that’s his nickname. Bonnett was very pleased with how Gillman handled himself during his debut performance in the playoffs against Mid-Prairie Wellman on Wednesday. The Mustangs head coach also told KNIA/KRLS sports that even with PCM’s increasing abilities in the ground game, he was the most proud of how Gillman stayed tough under pressure and had success through the air. “He played really well. He had pocket presence,” Bonnett explained. “It was easy to hand the ball off when we asked him to pass as a freshman. He was moving around in there not getting flushed out. He took a couple sacks, but there was nobody open and routes were being ran slow for him so he didn’t have much of a chance. I thought he stepped up and he put the ball on the money a couple times and we had some drops or else his stats would have looked pretty good.” Though PCM did drop their opening round playoff contest 24 – 7 to the Golden Hawks, Bonnett expressed how excited he is for the 2013 football season with how much experience and talent he has returning next year. PCM’s 2012 campaign ended with a 4 – 7 tally
