The Central College men and women’s cross country teams take their first step into the postseason this Saturday at the Iowa Conference meet in Cedar Rapids. The men are being labeled as favorites in this Saturday’s race, putting an even bigger target on their backs, after climbing to the top rank in the Central Region coaches’ poll and holding on to it for four straight weeks. A win this Saturday would be a first for Central men’s cross country. The women, on the other hand, are trying to nab a top-three finish as a goal. The Dutch women won the first Iowa Conference women’s championship meet when it debuted in 1981, and then won it again in ’85. The meet will be held at Noelridge Park in Cedar Rapids, with men getting underway at 11 a.m. and the women running at noon.
