Offense, defense and special teams all got involved in a three-minute flurry to close the first half Saturday, propelling Central College to a 27-10 football victory over Loras. The Dutch led 6-3 with just over three minutes to play in the first half when the special teams came up with the first big play of the ballgame. Five plays later, the Dutch were in the end zone for the first time on an Aaron Eiseler six-yard touchdown run. Loras followed with a big kick return and a long run to get inside the Central 10, when reigning Iowa Conference Defensive Player of the Week Luke Geneser picked off a Dylan Jones pass at the goal line and ran it back 89 yards to the Loras 11. Eiseler found Grant McArdle three players later for a nine-yard touchdown pass that gave the Dutch a commanding 20-3 lead at intermission. Ross Doehrmann’s 29-yard scamper midway through the fourth put the game away, and Loras added a late touchdown for the final 27-10 margin. Central is 4-4 on the season, 3-2 in the Iowa Conference, and they’ve got another home game this Saturday against Wartburg.
