The Marion County Board of Supervisors will explore financing options with the City of Bussey in regards to new infrastructure at their senior nutrition site. The Bussey Community Center is currently being used as the senior nutrition site after the Bussey Memorial Building was recently closed. Upgrades to the infrastructure need to be made in order to meet state code, but the Supervisors expressed concern about setting a precedent if they purchase around 5000 dollars’ worth of equipment for a building owned by the City of Bussey. Bussey mayor Larry Pinegar told the board that it would be difficult for them to make that large of a lump sum purchase due to their small community and budget. The Supervisors agreed to explore whether they could work the purchase as a grant or a loan to the City of Bussey, though it’s not known whether that will actually be able to be worked out.
