The Knoxville Boys Cross Country Squad takes the starter’s pistol at 12:30 this afternoon in the class 3A State Meet. The Panthers have had a season where they ran a lot of different runners due to injuries early in the season. However by midseason, Knoxville was finishing in the top half of the meets, and winning some of them. Coach Mike Moats says the goal is to have lead runner Wick Cunningham in contention for the individual state title, and the rest of the guys in the top 40. This will be the fourth straight year that Knoxville has qualified for the State Meet and the 20th appearance overall. The Panthers have won two state titles in 1939 and 1980.
