The Knoxville community was recognized this past weekend for once again being the top fundraising school for Coaches vs. Cancer in the state of Iowa. Nearly $40,000 was raised for cancer research last year during the annual game and other activities surrounding the game. Knoxville Girls Varsity coach Jim Uitermarkt thanks the entire community, saying it’s a total team effort and something everyone should be proud of.

The 2013 Coaches vs. Cancer event will take place on Saturday, January 19th in Knoxville. Uitermarkt says that players will be getting letters ready to seek donations soon and adds that many of the same activities will be back this year, including alumni games in the morning. He hopes the Knoxville community will mark their calendar for January 19th to continue supporting the fight against cancer.
