After seeing what Winterset was able to do against Knoxville and Carlisle, the Pella High football team will be looking to get out to an early start and let their defense do the rest. The Little Dutch are 6 – 2 on the year, with a spotless 5 – 0 record in Class 3A District 8 play heading into this final game of the regular season. The defense has been very impressive in district play, only allowing 20 points in five games, and shutting out their last three opponents. Defense is going to be another big key to tonight’s game, as the Huskies feature a star running back, Noah Kaldenburg, who has rushed for over 1,100 yards and has scored 13 times. Head coach, Jay McKinstrey, said that the key to slowing down Kaldenburg will be the defensive line stepping it up a notch and having several defenders go to the ball to bring him down. The winner of tonight’s game will be the number one seed out of Class 3A District 8 and have the distinction of being “District Champs.” You can catch tonight’s game streamed live on kniakrls.com with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema providing the play-by-play. We’ll also have a delayed broadcast of the game immediately following the Pella Christian game on 92.1 FM KRLS. Pregame begins at 6:45 p.m. and kickoff is at 7:30.
