“Scrappy” was the word that Eagles Head Volleyball Coach, Cindy Nikkel, used to describe the play of Norwalk, and Pella Christian seemed to come out with some determination of their own, fighting off the Warriors and winning in three straight sets, 27 – 25, 25 – 20, and 25 – 21. Pella Christian had the lead for most of game one, before a late surge by Norwalk had the Eagles on their heels. Pella Christian would rally to take the first set, then fight from behind in set two to go on a 11 – 3 run to win the second game, and eventually, the match. “We actually had a conversation yesterday at practice about fighting a little bit more,” Pella Christian Eagles head coach, Cindy Nikkel, said. “When they start believing they are good, we’re going to be really good. Just right now, they get a little shaky once in a while wondering about themselves. They’re a good team, young in experience but they’re really a good team, but they’re starting to believe it.” That was Pella Christian head coach, Cindy Nikkel. Her girls are now 11 – 13 on the year, and have moved to .500 in the Little Hawkeye Conference with a 2 – 2 record. Next up for the Eagles is a trip to a ranked Eddyville-Blakesburg squad on Thursday.
