After containing the offensive powerhouse that was the Keokuk Chiefs, the Pella high football team now turns its attention to the Williamsburg Raiders in round two of the Class 3A state football playoffs tonight. The Raiders are coming off a round one win over Carlisle on Wednesday, 35 – 7, where they gained over 400 yards of total offense in a balanced fashion (222 on the ground, 179 through the air). These two teams are also familiar with one another, especially this time of the year. The Little Dutch have won the last two meetings between the two teams, a 31 – 24 victory in 2009, and a 35 – 14 win in ’08. Pella high head coach, Jay McKinstrey, told KNIA/KRLS Sports that the Raiders have several big guys up front this year and their head coach, Curt Ritchie, has always had championship caliber teams under his reign. You can hear all of the action live on 92.1 FM KRLS with Cory Houser and Randy Sikkema calling the round two matchup between the Little Dutch and Raiders, with the game also being streamed live on kniakrls.com. The Bruxvoort’s Decorating Center Pregame Show starts at 6:15 p.m. and kickoff is at 7:00.
