Losing 25 seniors is tough for any coach, especially a newer one. PCM Mustangs’ head football coach, Greg Bonnett, was faced with that predicament for his 2012 season. He tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that his goal coming into the season, even with a younger squad, was to challenge for a district title, but at least make the playoffs. They did follow through with the latter, though they were challenging for the top spot out of Class 2A District 6 late in the season until a few injuries dampened those hopes. Looking ahead to the 2013 football season and beyond, however, Bonnett will have an experienced squad at his disposal. The PCM head coach also said how he would love to win a title each year, but with some tough teams in Class 2A and in the same district, it’s a tough road to go down to reach that final goal, but with a solid core of returning players, within the next couple years, he’d love to rise back up to being a big dog in the state. The Mustangs’ season ended at the hands of Mid-Prairie Wellman two weeks ago by a final score of 24 – 7. PCM finished with a 4 – 7 record.
