The Lady Dutch basketball team kept it close throughout, but the Ballard Bombers breezed late in the game last night, winning by a final score of 60 – 32. Both teams were plagued by turnovers in the first half, which was to be expected in the season debut. The score was 19 – 14 at half, as both sides were having trouble getting the ball through the cylinder. The second half was practically a wild west shootout, as Pella and Ballard traded threes to begin the final 16 minutes. By the fourth quarter, it seemed like the Pella girls just ran out of gas, only scoring four points in the final eight minutes to the Bombers’ 22. The loss starts the season for the Lady Dutch at 0 – 1, and will have the next nine days off to prepare for their game at home against A-D-M on November 30.
