Both the Central men’s and women’s basketball teams won their second games of the season on Saturday, moving each team to a 2 – 0 start. On the men’s side, head coach Craig Douma (pronounced Dow-Ma) and his team iced the game late with free throws and some key three-point shooting in the second half. Nick Marinkovich put in 17 points, while Jacob Winkler had a double-double, grabbing 11 boards and adding 17 points. As a team, the men shot just under 50 percent from the field. For the women, they took it to Crown, with a 68 – 51 victory. Kalli Richardson was one of three Dutch women in double figures in the points column, scoring 15 on 7-of-9 shooting. Both teams’ next game is this Tuesday, when the Men will next play on the road for the first time this season at Mount Vernon, while the women stay on the road to Blackburn, Illinois, to play Carlinville.
