The drought has continued to lose ground in Iowa with much of the state now only in a moderate drought according to the latest USDA Drought Monitor. About 35% of the state is in moderate drought, the lowest drought designation. Marion County is now in severe drought after months of being in extreme drought. The drought is persisting in the northwest corner of the state that wasn’t hit by the rains of last month.
