More than 400 people are expected to go in and out of the Pleasantville High School gym today, helping provide food for those in need. Students, staff, and community members are helping to pack around 37,000 meals as part of the Meals from the Heartland program. Students in Dennis Oliver’s class originally wanted to raise enough money to purchase and pack 10,000 meals, but support from the Pleasantville and Marion County communities allowed them to nearly quadruple that goal. KNIA/KRLS’s Lil Big Red Radio is there this morning, broadcasting live at the event and playing music for the volunteers.
