Knoxville Football Coach Troy Rider has been selected to be a part of the coaching staff of the South Squad at this summer’s 41st Shrine Bowl. Rider will be spending the week in Cedar Falls along with the best high school seniors from the 2012 season making appearances and meeting with Shriners Hospital staff. The week ends with the Shrine Bowl at the UNI-Dome. The date has not yet been released. Rider tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that it is an honor to coach along with some of the best coaches in Iowa and to watch some of the best players in the state as well. Rider adds the all-star coaching staff will get together in December to pick the teams. Knoxville does have a history in the Shrine Bowl. The last player to make the South Squad was Andy Kelley in 1997…and the last coach from Knoxville was Bob Christy in 1991.
