The Central Dutch baseball team knows it is going to be an uphill battle trying to repeat as Iowa Conference champions, but the 2013 season will present some new challenges as far as scheduling is concerned. Starting this next season, Iowa Conference teams will now play four game series against one another in a two day span. Dutch head baseball coach, Adam Stevens, told KNIA/KRLS Sports, that with basically adding a nine inning game to each series, his team will have to be more deep on the mound. Stevens also said that with the adding of seven more conference games in 2013, their non-conference schedule will be a tad lighter. Stevens wants his guys to be more mentally tough when the conference schedule gets underway, because it will be a grind each weekend to find that extra strength to get through the extra game. Central’s baseball season begins on March 7, when they travel down to Florida for their first games of 2013.
