Fairly happy with how his team’s defense is playing so far, Pella High head boys’ basketball coach, Mark Core, wants his team to focus on improving on the offensive side of the ball. The Little Dutch are averaging around 58 points per game, but the main concern of the coaching staff is their shooting percentage. Core said that there are a number of things that go into that, including shot selection and having the right person taking the right shot. The head coach mentioned that his guys need to be taking shots that they know they can make and not putting up “prayers.” Another factor Coach Core also stressed is practice; he wants his players to be honing their skills and their shots that they’re taking, and the areas they’re putting the shots up from. The Little Dutch are shooting around 38 percent on the season, and almost 27 percent from downtown, with a 63 percent success from the charity stripe. The Pella Boys will continue practice leading up to their next game this Friday against the Eagles of Pella Christian.
