With only two games left on the 2012 part of their schedule, the Pella Christian Eagles’ basketball teams are looking to close out the year strong, and first up is a trip to Newton this evening. The Eagles’ girls are 5 – 0 thus far, thanks to good defense and their ability to box out on rebounds. Pella Christian’s girls have not allowed a team to score more than 50 points in a game, and have averaged over 30 rebounds per game so far. The Eagles’ defense should be up to the task to stop a 2 – 3 Newton team who is shooting 28 percent from the field so far. On the boys’ side, the Eagles bounced back nicely from a tough loss to PCM and took it to Albia 67 – 55 on Saturday. Pella Christian has had no problem scoring points this year, while that has been a big thorn in Newton’s side for their boys’ team lately, combining to score 70 points in their last two games in losses to Norwalk and Marshalltown. You can listen to tonight’s doubleheader live on 92.1 KRLS with Jamie Brockman and Wynne Veenstra calling the game. Coverage begins immediately after Focus on the Family at around 6:00 p.m., and the girls will tipoff shortly after. The game is also being streamed live at kniakrls.com.
