Though the final score (82 – 51) didn’t do the game much justice, the Pella Christian Eagles’ girls’ basketball team hung with the No. 1 ranked Western Christian Wolfpack for three-fourths of the ballgame. The Eagles’ girls were able to hold Western Christian’s best offensive player, Brooke Wolterstorff, to just six points after averaging almost 16 points per game coming into the contest, as well as forcing her to commit four fouls in the second quarter alone. Head coach, Kevin Van Maanen, was very happy with the effort his girls put forth, even in the second half, when things were starting to get away from them. The loss to the Wolfpack was the first of the season for the Eagles’ girls, who will try to start another winning streak next Friday, January 4, when they host the Lady Dutch of Pella.
