One of the big problems that has plagued the Pella Christian Eagles’ boys basketball team in their two losses and even in a few of their wins, is the absence of talking with one another on offense and defense. Head coach, Larry Hessing, also said there is a lack of leadership on the court that needs to change heading into upcoming games if they want to contend for a conference championship or even a trip to state. Hessing said he doesn’t know why his guys are having trouble with the communication aspect of the game.
“It’s all about communication,” Hessing said. “I don’t know, it’s like this every year. Maybe it’s something we need to do different, but it seems like the guys have no problem talking outside the basketball court, whether it’s in the classroom or in the hallways, or wherever, they’re full of talk. Get them on the basketball floor; it’s hard to get them to talk to each other.”
The Eagles’ boys are currently 5 – 2, and will host rival Pella after the holiday break on January 4.
