A better first half for the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad had the Panthers leading at the halftime break, but a scoring draught in the second half allowed Davis County to take the lead and eventually win 57-42 last night in Bloomfield. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said the offense and defense struggled to find the same magic in the second half. Ashley Hawkshead led the Panthers with 15 points while Rikki Hall added 12. While the girls made the trip south, the boys stayed home to host Davis County and while the effort was better, the Mustangs came away with a 64-55 win. Coach Jeff Larson said the effort was better than the first two games. Gerrit Davis led the Panthers with 15 points while Jake Stearns and Ross Shelford had 12. Both Knoxville squads will be off until next Friday when they host Grinnell to open up Little Hawkeye Conference play.
