Farmland in Marion County saw a 17.4% increase in value this past year according to the new Iowa farmland value survey. The average acre of farmland is worth nearly $6400 per acre, up from around $5400 in 2011. That increase is actually on low-end state wide – the average state acre increased around 23.7% to nearly $8300 per acre. O’Brien County has the most expensive land, averaging $12,900 per acre. This year’s average state number is a record high and the third consecutive year that land value has increased at least 15%.
