The PCM Mustangs boys’ basketball team wrapped up one nice week of basketball, while the girls bounced back from Thursday’s close loss, as both teams defeated Roland-Story on the road Friday night. The boys were led by Dillon Bruxvoort and his 22 points, 18 of which came in the first half, while Alex DeWitte added 17 points of his own in a 67 – 43 win. Over on the girls’ side, they were getting all of their shots to go, and had three girls in double figures, as the Mustangs’ girls finished with a 64 – 48 defeat of Roland-Story. Courtney VanHouweling led the way with 16 points, Abbi Gilson had 14, and Kelsey Townsend scored 13. Head coach, Bret Grier, said that Gilson had the height advantage so she was double teamed, and she did a good job finding the open player on the perimeter to nail jumpers from beyond the arc. The PCM girls move to 3 – 4 on the year, while the boys stay perfect at 6 – 0. They’ll each conclude their three-game road trip with a venture out to Colfax-Mingo on Tuesday, a game that will be streamed live at kniakrls.com.
