It’ll be the first time this season that the Pella High Little Dutch basketball team will take the bus to a game, while the girls will conclude their brief road trip as both teams head north to Ballard this evening. The boys just recently defeated the defending state champion Mount Pleasant Panthers on Saturday, holding them to just three offensive rebounds in a 62 – 49 win. In total, the 2 – 0 Little Dutch have accumulated 94 rebounds, 35 on the offensive side of the ball. Ballard is coming into the game with an 0 – 2 record; their last game being a 66 – 56 loss at Carroll on Friday. On the girls’ side of the action, the Lady Dutch have stumbled a tad out of the gate, losing their game against Mount Pleasant on Saturday 58 – 48. The 1 – 2 Pella High girls’ basketball team will be trying to bounce back against a 3 – 0 Bombers’ team. Lady Dutch head coach, Jerod Garland, said that so far this season, he doesn’t have one specific person stepping up on offense and that it has been the collaboration of several girls on his team that have filled in several different roles. Tonight’s hardwood doubleheader will be aired live on FM 92.1 KRLS with Cory Houser and Randy Sikkema providing the commentary starting immediately after Focus on the Family and the PM Family Magazine at 6:00 p.m. The game will also be streamed live on kniakrls.com.
