Inconsistency has been the theme early in the season for the Twin Cedars boys’ basketball team and both Melcher-Dallas varsity squads. For the Saints, the boys have not had a contest decided by less than 20 points either way, and are coming off of a 64 – 33 victory over Mormon Trail this past Tuesday. Melcher-Dallas, however, will be welcoming Murray into town, a team that beat them 80 – 32 just ten days ago. Head coach Jim Wells wants to see his guys come out and play a normal game and keep the turnovers down against Murray this time around. For the Saints’ girls, they also lost to Murray earlier this season 50 – 27, and head coach, Jon Suntken, wants his girls to have that “revenge mentality” going into that game with a chip on their shoulder to prove to the Mustangs that they are a better team than what they showed last Tuesday. The Twin Cedars Sabers’ boys’ team will be making the bus ride to Diagonal by themselves this evening, as the Maroons were unable to field a girls’ team this season. The Sabers are 3 – 2 so far, while Diagonal has a 2 – 2 mark on the season. Sabers’ head boys coach, Alan Stewart, said that playing at Diagonal is always a tough environment, as the fans really get into the games there, and the Maroons’ boys feature three players that can really shoot the ball. The three games tonight will tip-off at 6:15 p.m.
