It was a weird night on the court for both Sabers’ teams, as they split the doubleheader with Albia on Tuesday. On the girls’ side, Twin Cedars had a 29 – 10 lead at the half, and seemingly had the game in hand with a 48 – 30 lead after three quarters, but Albia scored 30 fourth quarter points and forced overtime, only to be outscored by the resilient Sabers’ girls, who stayed undefeated with a 75 – 72 win. Four starters hit double figures, led again by Alee Hugen who had 24, followed by Brittney Roby and Ayla Crosby who had 15, and Peyton Fee contributed 13. It was the same story and different result by the Twin Cedars’ boys team, who fell to Albia 61 – 54. The Sabers’ boys climbed from a deficit late in the second half and got within six, but couldn’t pull closer as Albia closed the doors on them in the closing quarter. Dylan Springer and Otis Roby each led the way with 16 points. Twin Cedars’ girls are now 8 – 0, while the boys drop to 4 – 4, and each team now has the winter break ahead of them, and won’t play another game until 2013.
