The Melcher-Dallas boys’ basketball team is coming off a demolishing of Moravia, while the girls’ team is off a demoralizing defeat at the hands of that same team, and both Saints’ teams will be starting their Bluegrass Conference schedule tonight when they travel to Murray. The boys have averaged 44 rebounds per game through just two contests, and will need to rely on their defense tonight to defeat a Murray team that features three starters averaging over ten points per game, led by Austin Halls who has scored 63 points thus far. The Saints’ girls dropped their last game 62 – 18, and head coach, Jon Suntken, wants to see his girls pick up the intensity and take some better shots. The girls have only shot 28 percent from the field so far this year, and 31 percent from the free throw line. Tonight’s Bluegrass Conference doubleheader action begins at 6:15 p.m. with the girls’ tipoff.
