Albia hosted Pleasantville in a non-conference basketball match-up last night and swept the Trojans. The girls’ game was close, but Pleasantville just couldn’t put one final run together, falling 59 – 52. Kennedy Core had a career high with 30 points, sinking five from long distance. Trojans’ head coach, Aaron Fichter told KNIA/KRLS Sports that he was proud of how Core was able to get others involved and then stepped up and drained shots when she had to. Fichter also mentioned how this was an important game for his girls to go on the road and stay within striking distance of their opponent for the majority of the game. It was a different story on the boys’ side, as Albia was able to come away with a 77 – 55 triumph. The Pleasantville girls drop to 0 – 13 while the boys are now 8 – 3, and they will have little time to rest, as they have to hop back on the bus tonight to face Wayne.
