With 2013 upon us, people in Knoxville may be thinking it’s time to get rid of their Christmas tree. The Marion County Conservation Board is making it convenient. They’ll be having a curbside pickup of Christmas trees Wednesday morning. The pickup will begin at 8am and the Conservation Board will only drive the route once. Trees must have all decorations stripped off before being placed on the curb. The trees will be used for wildlife cover and fisheries habitat in Conservation Board areas in Marion County.
One of the three extra Christmas Tree Pickup dates in Pella is tomorrow. The Public Works Department will be picking up Christmas trees free of charge on the 2nd, 9th and 16th. Trees need to be placed on the curb by 7am on the day of pickup. The trees will be put through a woodchipper so they need to cleared of wrappings, ropes, wires and stands. Trees that don’t meet these requirements won’t be picked up. Wreaths will be picked up with normal garbage.
