After two not-so-stellar offensive performances to begin Iowa Conference play at the beginning of the month, both of Central’s basketball teams will be looking to turn things around at home against Coe this evening. The game was supposed to take place Wednesday night, but due to the not-so-stellar road conditions, the game was postponed to tonight. The women dropped their contest to the Kohawks 46 – 39, shooting only 27 percent from the field. Coach Mike Jacobsma said that he was proud of the defensive effort of his women; it was just that shots were not falling for his team that game. The men didn’t fare much better, dropping their conference opener to Coe, 56 – 46. Tonight, head coach Craig Douma wants to see his offense aid and build their defense. The Dutch men did have a lead at half against the Kohawks but coughed it up by shooting a frigid 19 percent from the field in the final twenty minutes. Tonight’s Iowa Conference doubleheader tips off at 6:00 p.m.
