Pella Christian took control early jumping out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back on their way to a commanding 77-50 win over Knoxville. Knoxville was unable to match Pella Christian’s intensity from the start as the Eagles turned the game into a track meet and an offensive flurry leading by ten points after one quarter. The real damage however was done in the third quarter when the Eagles outscored the Panthers 20-8 to put the game away. Pella Christian coach Larry Hessing said after back-to-back tough losses, he was very pleased with their intensity from the opening tip. Austin Vermeer recorded a double-double and led all scorers with 20 points, Blake Riggen drained four three pointers and finished with 16 points while Coltin Collins added 14 for the Eagles. Knoxville was led by Ryan Douglass and Gerritt Davis with 12 and nine points respectively. Pella Christian snapped a two game losing streak and improved to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in LHC play while Knoxville fell to 0-10 and 0-5. Pella Christian will host Des Moines Christian tonight then travel to Grinnell for a huge conference match-up on Tuesday.
