Emergency personnel are busy with a variety of tasks during a winter storm. But when public transportation like HIRTA shuts down due to weather, they take on a couple of additional duties. Marion County Emergency Management, Sheriff’s deputies, and other first responders helped coordinate transportation for patients who had appointments at area clinics and hospitals Wednesday. Wednesdays usually include a number of dialysis patients; emergency personnel helped those patients get to their needed treatments.
