The Pella Christian girls’ and boys’ basketball teams seemed to run out of gas after their battles with rival Pella, as the Eagles were swept by North Polk on Saturday. Pella Christian’s girls fell by a final score of 55 – 41. Cori Uitermarkt had another big offensive game with 21 points, however she only could pull down three rebounds and the Eagles as a team were out-rebounded by North Polk. Pella Christian also committed 22 turnovers to North Polk’s 15. It was the same story on the boys’ side. The boys also looked exhausted on the court, losing their game 72 – 59. Turnovers were another big factor, as the Eagles gave the ball away 21 times to the Comets’ 11. Sebastian Baugh came off the bench and led all scorers with 23, hitting five from long range. The girls are now 7 – 2 while the boys fall to 6 – 3, and each team will get back to Little Hawkeye Conference play against Knoxville on Tuesday.
