Trying to get a feel for the caliber and style of play of the teams that his Central men’s basketball team play on a consistent basis, head coach Craig Douma will be tediously studying the Dutch’s Iowa Conference foes the first time around, starting with Coe College on Saturday. Douma says not only will he be watching his players, he’ll also be looking at what’s going on over on the other bench.
“Just getting a feel for how these teams play style-wise,” Douma said. “Learning the personnel, learning the coaches. Each team has certain characteristics; they’re always consistent with each coach. So learning the styles of play, figuring out how to win this conference. What things do they do defensively that cause and pose problems?”
The men are 7 – 3 heading into the conference opener tomorrow afternoon in Cedar Rapids against favorite Coe, a game that will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS.
