Marion County’s drought designation has been downgraded. For the first time in months Marion County is no longer in severe drought. Marion County is now in a moderate drought, which is the least severe drought intensity. The county shares that designation with most of southern and eastern Iowa. The Northwest of the state is still in troubling conditions, making up the 30% of the state in extreme drought.
