The PCM girls’ basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss Friday night at Nevada 52-38. The Mustangs trailed by just two points at the half and battled until the very end, led by Senior Guard Krisha Housemen who tallied 14 points. With the victory, Nevada improves to 10-2 while the loss drops PCM to 5-6. Up next for the Mustangs is a home game next Tuesday versus Gilbert. The PCM Boys also struggled on the road versus Nevada Friday night suffering their first loss of the season 55-46. The Mustangs trailed by a single point at the end of the first quarter and again at the half, but found themselves down six points heading into the final period. PCM did pull within four points twice in the final minutes but failed to get a stop defensively that would have allowed them to trim the lead any further. Nevada now sits alone at the top of the Heart of Iowa Conference standings with an 8-1 record, while the loss drops PCM to 9-1 overall. The Mustangs now face the fastest of turnarounds as they travel to Pella High Saturday night to take on the Dutch. Coach Lorenson talks about his teams chances to learn from their mistakes with less then 24 hours between games. Pregame for the PCM @ Pella High boys game starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
