Pella First Responders will have a new tool to use on the scene of accidents. The Pella Fire Department and Pella Community Ambulance placed new jaws of life into service yesterday. Jaws of life are a suite of tools including hydraulic spreaders, rams, and cutters, that first responders can use to free someone trapped in a vehicle. Pella Ambulance Director Doug Polking says that the old tools were from as far back as 1982, so they budgeted years in advance for the purchase of a whole new set.
