PCM and North Polk’s basketball teams will try to lace up the sneakers again tonight for doubleheader action. The games were supposed to be played on Tuesday, but due to the winter storm that was on its way to the area, the schools decided to postpone. The Comets’ girls were able to beat the Mustangs 57 – 34 in mid-December in their first meet-up. North Polk dominated in every facet of the game, holding the Mustangs to just 19 rebounds and 33 percent shooting. The Comets’ boys hung in with PCM, but lost 59 – 47. Since then, North Polk has defeated a very tough Nevada team, which is the only team that has been able to beat the Mustangs this year. Coach Fred Lorenson said that the Comets are much-improved from the last time they met. It is also senior night for PCM’s squads tonight, and the doubleheader will tip-off at 6:00 p.m. with the girls playing first.
