It took double overtime, but the Pella High girls’ basketball team got their biggest win to date this season, upsetting Oskaloosa, the 14th ranked team in Class 4A on Friday night by a final of 56 – 51.

The game was tied at 38 at the end of regulation, but each team had a chance to win. Oskaloosa was fouled with ten seconds to play, but missed both free throws. The Lady Dutch went down to the other end and barely missed a short shot to win the game as time expired.

Pella held Oskaloosa’s leading scorer Kenna Veldhuizen scoreless through three full quarters, but she finished with 16 points and eclipsed the 1000 point mark for her career.

Over on the boys’ side, the Little Dutch had a tad bit easier time with the Indians, winning 64 – 34. Nathan Clayberg grabbed 13 rebounds, ten in the first half, while Isaac Naaktgeboren was again a beast on offense, scoring 17.
