Following a week of 2 – 1 play, the Pella High basketball teams will take their shows on the road for the next four games, stopping first at Newton this evening. The Pella girls had a pair of exhilarating games to close their week out, coming back from deficits of seven and 12 against Grinnell and Norwalk, respectively. In each of the games, the Lady Dutch got out to big leads that were short-lived, as they have been unable to keep up the intensity in the middle two quarters. Coach Jerod Garland said that he can’t pinpoint specifically what has jump-started their offense at the beginning of games, but his girls know how important it is to get out to such a quick start. The Lady Dutch enter play at 4 – 7 overall and 2 – 3 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, while the Cardinals are 3 – 7 overall and winless in the conference. The Pella boys seemed to use up all of their energy coming back to beat Grinnell; losing to Norwalk on Friday 55 – 35. Head coach Mark Core told KNIA/KRLS Sports, that despite Newton entering with a 3 – 6 record, every team in the Little Hawkeye Conference is a threat and has the ability to beat anybody on any given night. The Little Dutch are 7 – 4, and will try to notch another conference victory tonight against the Cardinals. The doubleheader will be streamed live on kniakrls.com with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema calling the game, starting with pregame coverage at 6:00, and tip-off at 6:15. There will also be a delayed broadcast on 92.1 KRLS immediately following the Pella Christian action.
