It was a night of close basketball games in Wayne, as the Trojans and Falcons split the doubleheader Tuesday night. The girls fell 63 – 54 but stayed close to their opponents all game. Head coach Aaron Fichter told KNIA/KRLS Sports that he was proud of the way his team went out and battled and how they handled the ball. Kennedy Core improved on her career best from Monday to score 32 points in the ballgame yesterday, while Trisha Kunze added seven. Fichter also said that if his girls play with the same intensity on Friday, he likes his team’s chances of being competitive and getting their first win of the season against East Union. The boys salvaged the split, as the Trojans beat Wayne 66 – 57 in the nightcap. Chris Peden had 16 points, Trevor Zoss had 15, and Patrick Sheehey dumped in 14 off the bench. The girls remain winless while the boys improve to 9 – 3, and as mentioned, they’ll come back home temporarily to host East Union this Friday.
