One way to break out of an offensive slump is to go up against a team that has been struggling at this point in the season, and that was the case when Twin Cedars visited Melcher-Dallas on Tuesday, handily winning in both the boys’ and girls’ contests. The Sabers’ girls were ahead 28 – 2 after one quarter of play, and had the running clock on by the end of the third in a 60 – 23 blowout. Alee Hugen led with 17 points, Payton Fee scored 12, and Brittney Roby added ten. Coach Justin Nolte told KNIA/KRLS Sports, that if there was one thing he would like his girls to improve on offensively, it would be their foul shooting, as they went 8-for-17 in the game and are shooting 53 percent from the charity stripe for the season. The Sabers’ and Saints’ contest was a closer affair, but Twin Cedars still prevailed, 55 – 49. Twin Cedars’ girls are now 9 – 2, while Melcher-Dallas is 3 – 8; the Sabers’ boys are 6 – 5 and the Saints fall to 4 – 6. Moulton-Udell is next on the schedule for Twin Cedars, while Melcher-Dallas is off until the Bluegrass Conference tournament beginning this weekend. A full bracket of the tournament will be posted in the coming days on
