Moravia handed the Twin Cedars Sabers’ girls’ basketball team their first loss of the season Friday night, by a final score of 48 – 45. The Bussey gals had a lead at the half, but couldn’t get any shots to go in the third quarter, only scoring three points. Coach Justin Nolte switched to a man-to-man defense in the fourth quarter which helped close the game, but the Sabers couldn’t get a run started to take the lead back. Alee Hugen again led all scorers with yet another double-double; contributing 27 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. The Sabers’ boys won over Moravia to salvage a split, 72 – 38. The boys are 5 – 4 while the girls fell to 8 – 1, and both teams are back in action this Monday at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
