Saints’ and Sabers’ Boys Win Consolation Bracket Games/Sabers’ Girls Looking for Second Straight Tournament Title

Both Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas came away with wins in the consolation bracket of the Bluegrass Conference Tournament on Friday night. The Sabers won 61 – 20 over Seymour, while the Saints prevailed 55 – 31 over Mormon Trail. Kenneth Waddle let the attack for Melcher-Dallas with 22 points, while Ross Dawson tallied a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. Twin Cedars returns to action on Tuesday against Moravia, while the Saints will once again face Mormon Trail on the road.

Meanwhile, the Twin Cedars’ girls’ basketball team will be playing in their fourth straight Bluegrass Conference Tournament this evening, while the Saints’ girls will play in the third place game against Murray. Coach Justin Nolte told KNIA/KRLS Sports that the fact that his team has been to the final for four straight years now means a lot to him, his girls and to the entire Twin Cedars’ girls’ basketball program. Melcher-Dallas plays at 2:15 p.m. this afternoon, while Twin Cedars waits until primetime for their game at 6:15 p.m.
