For the fourth consecutive season, the Twin Cedars girls’ basketball team will be playing for a Bluegrass Conference tournament championship, after they beat Murray 43 – 42 last night. The Mustangs were down by four with eight seconds left when they hit a three on their final possession to make it close, but ran out of time. Alee Hugen led with 20 points and Brittney Roby grabbed 11 rebounds for the now 12 – 2 Sabers, who will face Moravia in the finals, after they beat Melcher-Dallas 46 – 32. The score was 18 – 17 in the third quarter, and didn’t score until the final 45 seconds of the period. Mackenze McCarty led the Saints in scoring with 12 points. It will be a unique conference final, as the two squads will also face-off against one another on Tuesday. Melcher-Dallas will play Murray in the third place game early in the afternoon on Saturday, while the conference final tips off at 6:15 p.m.
